Military Issues

Many service members suffer from depression, nightmares, flashbacks, post-traumatic stress, and traumatic brain injury among other serious problems. These problems can affect them during and after deployment for several months and, in many cases, for years. Many service members do not get the appropriate help, leaving them and their families vulnerable to tremendous suffering.

Prior service and current military members and families may seek assistance with the following difficulties:

·family separation and reintegration
·transitioning from Active Duty to Reserve Status
·sleep disturbances
·difficulties in adjusting after returning from deployment
·transitioning from service to retirement
·PTSD and Combat Stress
·motivational counseling to assist in achieving physical fitness and weight loss goals
·Hostile Work Environment concerns
·behavioral difficulties in children whose parent is deployed
·marital difficulties
·anger management
·difficulties adjusting to geographic separation from children

Mental health providers who treat active duty military personnel, veterans, and their families require state-of-the-art training in effective treatments for depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, anger, and personality disorders. Laurel Hicks has extensive training and experience with military issues. She has served on Active Duty in the U.S. Army as an enlisted soldier. Additionally, she spent many years counseling soldiers and families in the Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Indianapolis, Indiana areas.

Laurel Hicks can assist with virtually any situation that is military related. Please do not hesitate to contact her and schedule an assessment.
